Resounding Achord

Resounding Achord performing at St. Francis Episcopal Church, San Jose

Resounding Achord, the flagship choir of Resounding Achord Productions, had their first rehearsal in 2013 and is conducted by founding Artistic Director, Kristina Nakagawa. The auditioned mixed-voice ensemble includes nearly 50 singers ranging in age from 21 to 75. The choir’s singers come from all walks of life with many different professions, from teachers and professors to engineers, non-profit professionals, customer service agents, doctors, nurses, and lawyers.

Resounding Achord rehearses on Wednesday evenings during the academic year. Repertoire is selected from all musical periods and styles from all over the world, including songs from the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Resounding Achord typically performs 2-3 Resounding Achord Productions-managed concerts each year along with other collaborative performances.

Resounding Achord was the featured performer at the Tech Interactive’s 2014 Tech Awards Gala, and has participated in two international tours to Ireland (2016) and the Baltic States (2018). Collaborations include Orff’s Carmina Burana, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and Mozart’s Requiem with the San José State University choirs and Peninsula Cantare; Arvo Pärt’s Magnificat with the Santa Cruz Chorale; and Orff’s Carmina Burana and Faure’s Requiem with the Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale. The choir has also participated in the Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence benefit concert three times and performed with the Bay Bells handbell ensemble in December 2019.
