SingAble

Join us in June 2025 for the inaugural season of this special program!

What is SingAble?

A community choral experience for people of all abilities. SingAble is an inclusive choir based in San José designed to celebrate everyone’s voice–especially those with disabilities. We believe music should be accessible, joyful, and a place where community thrives. SingAble provides a welcoming space for singers with and without disabilities to come together through adaptive music-making–and that includes families, too!

Summer 2025 Pilot Dates:

June 3rd-July 10th, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:00-5:30 pm in the Parish Hall at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 1205 Pine Avenue, San Jose, CA 95125

Culminating concert in the same location on July 10 at 5:00 pm.

What makes SingAble special?

  • Inclusive & Accessible: Adaptive strategies, sensory-friendly environment, and support for a wide range of access needs.
  • Free to Participate: Thanks to generous grant funding, registration is completely free.
  • Open to All Ages: Children, teens, adults, and families are all welcome.
  • Multi-Generational Participation Encouraged: Whether you sing or support, family members are invited to participate, volunteer, or connect with others.
  • Structured for Inclusion: Rehearsals are 90 minutes long. The first 30 minutes are dedicated to preparing nondisabled singers through training on disability advocacy, inclusive communication, and peer support strategies. The full ensemble then rehearses together for the remaining hour.
  • Community-Centered: We especially welcome singers with and without disabilities to join together as musical peers and collaborators.

Why it matters:

Despite San José’s vibrant arts scene, there are few truly accessible choral opportunities. SingAble helps close that gap–offering music, connection, and joy to people who are often left out of traditional music programs. It also provides a space for families to come together, find support, and build community that lasts beyond the final concert.
